Russian column destroyed near Melitopol

Per this tweet:

Also confirmed by the Ukrainian National News agency (UkrInform.net)and the regional governor, who is also Chairman of the Mykolaiv Regional Military Administration. This is in the hard fought southern Ukraine region, near the mouth of the Dneiper River, which flows into the Black Sea and (on edit) near Mariupol.

https://www.ukrinform.net/rubric-ato/3428932-in-melitopol-ukrainian-army-destroys-huge-enemy-convoy.html

In Melitopol, the Ukrainian Army has defeated and surrounded a Russian convoy consisting of 200 units of armored hardware.

That’s according to Vitaliy Kim, Chairman of the Mykolaiv Regional Military Administration, Ukrinform reports.

"200 units of hardware in Melitopol, destroyed and surrounded – this is the best gift! Glory to the Armed Forces," wrote Kim.

Adviser to the Minister of Internal Affairs, Anton Gerashchenko, confirmed that the Russian convoy, along with the command headquarters set to attack Melitopol, had been destroyed by Ukrainian artillery outside Vasylivka, Zaporizhia region.

Sometimes it makes sense, like convincing the Germans we were going to attack Calais, or didn't have Ultra. Sometimes it didn't, like arms manufacturers and Hearst arguing war with Spain.

Our first dispatches in both big wars didn't tell the truth about trench warfare, or the Bulge.

Otherwise the Russians would have already won. That’s how you know the Ukrainian side is winning- they are still alive and fighting.

... Ukraine is most likely underreporting.

Yes, the Russian military is THAT BAD and the only thing they're are B+ at is artillery and shelling which they're using to a devastating effect.

That's why people are shaking their heads at calls for air space to be closed ... the Russian Air force sucks too and are getting too many planes shot down in the day time for bombing sorties to work.

UKR needs counterbattery weapons to destroy the artillery and LITERALLY become like Israel putting up with a couple of missiles here and there and waiting Putrid's war out.

Zelensky asked for counterbattery weapons and was denied

There have been several notable claimed victories by Ukraine that ever got backed up.

This is not the first 100+ vehicle column claimed to have been destroyed. The others either turned out to be much smaller or no evidence surfaced.

Ukraine is absolutely causing massive losses for the Russians, and I hope it leads to Russia giving up and ideally Putin losing power. That being said, they are doing it in lots of little nibbles, not big bites.

Interesting resource for tracking losses is Oryx. They keep a tally of verifiable losses.

Stopping a column of tanks, APCs and fuel/food trucks by determined Uke forces, armed with the latest weapons, can stop a whole lot of the invaders. The Uke army, in fighting on their own ground, sited weaponry in favorable and hidden areas. They are highly motivated, especially after seeing the massive damage this invasion has caused.

Modern warfare with modern weapons, on both sides, has resulted in a brutal struggle. The Ukes may still 'win' by forcing a stalemate. Let's hope so!

There was something hit but from pics but not a line of vehicles like in Iraq.

Either way, this is to show that the RA is stank ... they're horrible

Talking about a region here. "This is in the hard fought southern Ukraine region." Meritopol is about 120 miles from Mariupol. Vasylivka, is north of Meritopol on the Dnieper and they are about 44 miles apart. The Sea of Azov and the Black Sea are connected through the Kerch Straight.
