Its hard to watch Russia's version of journalism and not think of the American far-rights version of it. Indeed, the connections are both direct and philosophicaland of import to national security leaders.

But theres a deeper connection as well. Americas right-wing partisans wish they had what Putin has: control of the information and messages that flow to the body politic. Thats not an accusation; it is their goal.
In the past few months, weve seen just how closely related the two are, Putins propaganda and our own. Before Russias full-scale invasion of Ukraine, Americas far-right denied the looming threat as a wag-the-dog conspiracy concocted by deep-state Democrats and centrist Republicans, or tried to blame President Joe Biden. Russian propaganda outlets gleefully put those clips into heavy rotation.

Great article, worth reading.

(21,264 posts)Autocracy is what every Republican wants, how else can they maintain minority rule? Republicans are the Putin party. Republicans want America to be just like Russia and we need to start calling them out for pretending to support Ukraine just because their internal polling tells them to do so.

(21,264 posts)I can see the dominant propaganda narrative that has blasted the MSM and it's coming from the Putin Party. (GQP)
President Biden isn't doing enough in Ukraine. Trump just came out today and stated that president Biden needs to end the war in Ukraine. We have the MiG-29 debacle being blamed on president Biden. We have people calling for the US to close off the air in Ukraine.
Republicans want their party to be seen as the party that is behind Ukraine. They will use campaign ads to say that president Biden is weak. We have Republicans who last week voted against military aid to Ukraine now saying that president Biden isn't doing enough to help Ukraine.
There are people here who love to post articles from "The Hill," I see it has a new article out chastising president Biden to get those MiG jets to Ukraine.
It is happening here on DU. people pushing Republican talking points.
President Biden is doing a fantastic job; he united our allies, united NATO, against Russia. We are now sending military aid to Ukraine that costs more than Ukraine's entire yearly military budget.
Turn on Fox News right now and I guarantee you will hear a former military expert just bashing president Biden, our CIC.

Putin bought half the US congress, a sitting president, and the media.
I have been talking about this for some time, but now I think the reality is finally sinking it.

(30,613 posts)That seems to be crumbling, now that he has other priorities. I think loss of Putin's troll farms and Roubles for influence peddling will cause significant damage to the Russiapublican Party.

The GOP is getting control over the US voting apparatus and installing autocratic state governments.
