1. Your title is unclear

Do you mean "Beware of Authoritarian Repression of the Media?" This is what your quote implies.

But the headline, at first blush, seems to be warning against advocacy of Authoritarianism by the media.

2. As a journalist since the 1970s, I intended to suggest that authoritarian regimes tend to look down

on press freedom. Putin is presently shutting down all but his hand-picked outlets. Sorry if it was confusing.
