There's always been that guy with delusions of grandeur who grabs the reins of power and then leads his people into a disastrous war. It may take years to eliminate the oppressors, but they all fall or fail eventually. (There's famous Ghandi quote that says much the same.) We humans are collectively pretty dumb on that score - we never freaking learn from such disasters in our past. There is always some asshole...
