Whose military prowess enabled the Americans to gain independence. Such mocking doesn't belong on DU.

It is fair to mock the French penchant for losing wars much as it is for Italy's history of losing governments or Turkey being the sick man of Europe since(checks notes) 560 AD.


While we are at it, you have the Americans penchant to make things they were barely involved in all about them.

but I think he underestimates the morale of Ukrainian troops and society as a whole.

They may be defeated on the battlefield but they'll be back under circumstances they find more favorable.

It's an impossible counterinsurgency for the Russians to win given the amount of western military aid that is flowing to the Ukrainians and is only likely to increase.

A determined thrust probably could break through Ukraine's defenses. It's questionable whether Russia is capable of it at this stage.
