I quickly learned if someone started talking about the Rothchilds and global conspiracy to be on my guard for the crazy to come. That stuff has been around for a long time. I've learned it was a big platform of the Nazis. It's surprising how deep this BS goes, and how durable it is.

(22,879 posts)normal. Both in the US and abroad. Beliefs that the Rothchilds still control the world are a key component of that mindset. Paranoid conspiracy theories about Jews, and now liberals (consider the memes about Democratic child trafficking cults) are in pockets all over the place. We need to develop effective countermeasures to these beliefs.

When it comes to CT buffs, those who DON'T believe the way they do are the "abnormal" ones.

(46,345 posts)Just look how the "true believers" in UFO's get defensive, when someone wants *GASP* actual evidence.
Hyper-religious get this way, as do hyper-partisans.
Just look at how the Trump-bots still are convinced "the election wuz stolen!"

(1,654 posts)The belief in the Rothchild conspiracy often also tends to pull in climate deniers and UFOs. It's the belief that the mysterious scarry elites want to control our lives but the believers are smart and on to it. They KNOW THINGS. And you're dumb or to be pitied for not believing it.
