Barbara Maier Gustern, 87, who once coached Blondie singer Debbie Harry, was pushed from behind in front of her building at W. 28th Street and Eighth Avenue
The attack occurred around 8.30 p.m. on Thursday, according to the NYPD
Gustern was conscious when paramedics arrived and managed to tell police that she had been attacked by another woman
'She has suffered traumatic damage to the left side of her brain, and has been unconscious the entire time,' Gustern's grandson AJ said on Facebook
She died in a hospital bed Tuesday morning, where she was on life support
