This morning Joe Scarborough bashed China and promoted 'make it in America'

Well, no shit, Joe. But where were Republicans when you were in the House? I'll tell you where, they were here:

"Republicans blasting China forget that the GOP enabled Beijing's rise"

"...China’s enormous capacity to build and make things on the cheap needed an equally massive market to buy its products. Enter Republicans and corporate America who, along with a handful of “centrist” Democrats, eagerly handed an enormous strategic gift to Beijing.

In a seminal vote, the United States normalized trade with Beijing, opening the floodgates to the mass outsourcing of well-paying American manufacturing jobs to China. ....

A whopping 75 percent of House Republicans voted in favor of shipping American jobs to China. Democrats, wary of the myriad economic, environmental and labor repercussions of normalizing trade with China, rebuked a “centrist” president and voted against the measure by a two-to-three margin.

Turn off the cable noise and never look back. You will be far better informed not listening to their blabbering.

Which accelerated the death of the small town. And yet small town America is dark red. And bitter. But their anger is misplaced.

The small town model was already dying. This just helped speed it up.

And I'm not necessarily against a world economy. But there need to be limits. And there needs to be better tax accountability for corporations who manufacture off-shore. And we should hold countries who we trade with to higher human rights standards.

when Walmart came to town I told my friends not to shop there, to pay a little more and be patriotic. They didn't listen, they wanted those $20 blue jeans.

Had Walmart not come to town more people would have been working. I still support my local businesses, never ever shop at Walmart.

It's too late now, we reap what we sow.

loves their Walmart and so does suburbia. I remember a family owned store that was kind of like a Walmart begged our suburban town not to allow Walmart to build here because they would be put out of business. Within about three years they went out of business.

not being able to find you what you need that meets Buy America requirement can put you up shits creek without a paddle.

I am having to deal with a Buy America situation in my job right now and we are in a world of hurt because we have yet to find vendors capable of providing what we need that also adheres to the Buy America requirements.

If you want to push Made in America and Buy America then you need to make sure that goods are actually manufactured in the US with American made components. If you cannot guarantee that then all you are doing is wasting people's time.

As you can tell I am pretty frustrated at the moment.

I buy my automobiles assembled in America, no way every part will be made in America. The same with my appliances, all assembled in America, no way all of the parts are made here.

I always make sure my American flag is made in America.

When one of the ‘applicants’ made their pitch, and included details on how he was making sure the product was made in the USA. Employing Americans in the USA in his production.

Well, Mr Wonderful (is that his name, the heavy-set one with dark hair?- His wife was in a boat accident a few years back),

Anyway, he asked him why he didn’t go the cheaper route, including shipping the manufacturing jobs to China to save costs. And he was really demeaning the fella.

They went to commercial, and on return, the applicant was in tears. Sadly, I can’t remember what the outcome was.

Why the heck were we promoting shipping jobs to China? Why didn’t viewers of the show complain? Just so sad.
