I've been following the live cams on Kyiv. Today's the first day you can hear constant gunfire.

Now, this may be Ukrainian counter offensive, but clearly there is activity near the city.

(I actually know exactly where the position of this camera is, too. Right off St. Michael's Square. I can see my old hotel--the Hotel Ukraine--in the background, along with the Independence Monument in Maidan Square.)
