New: US & NATO allies are sending several surface-to-air missiles systems to Ukraine. A senior US official tells me these systems include Soviet-era SA-8, SA-10, SA-12 and SA-14 mobile air defense systems, w/range higher than Stingers, giving capability to hit cruise missiles.

Pretty sure it's their equipment and lack of proper maintenance, MarineCombatEngineer Mar 2022 #2

Adds up to a lot of money. Meanwhile Russia has pretty much foot the whole bill for the invasion and have lost a whole lot of equipment. Plus our side gets to try out all their equipment and see how it works. It would seem that Russian equipment is underperforming. Though maybe that’s more due to human factors. Still, Russian military’s reputation has suffered.

back in the mid 90's, we trained with their equivalent of the Russian Army's combat engineers, they were a fucking joke, they would show up drunk, their equipment, what they didn't sell for booze/drugs, was in bad disrepair, they were undisciplined, their NCO's were either very brutal towards the conscripts or just didn't give a shit, their officers didn't care what went on as long as it didn't come back on them, seems nothing has changed.
