The evidence is clear: it's time to prosecute Donald Trump

US Capitol attack

On 8 March, a jury took three hours to render a guilty verdict against Guy Reffitt, a January 6 insurrectionist. Donald Trump could not have been pleased. DC is where Trump would be tried for any crimes relating to his admitted campaign to overturn the election.

Jurors there would have no trouble finding that the evidence satisfies all statutory elements required to convict Trump, including his criminal intent, the most challenging to prove. That is our focus here.

A 3 March New York Times story asserted that “uilding a criminal case against Mr Trump is very difficult for federal prosecutors ... given the high burden of proof ... [and] questions about Mr Trump’s mental state”.

What the effin hell happened to the investigations in Manhattan? I may have missed any updates since the last report I have seen, regarding prosecutors resigning because the a**hole who took on Cy Vance's job, said there's not enough evidence of fraud etc.

My instincts have so far, been spot on despite all the finger wagging frpm legal eagles here. It's interesting to note radio silence ever since the Manhattan office closed down that investigation.

Again, I might have missed reports of developments moving that case along, but umm. Seems like it would still be a topic of much discussion if there had been.

On 3/3 the Trump org was ordered to hand over all the documents requested by the end of March and for TFG and family to be deposed within three weeks. A deal was cut where the deposition could be appealed but all docs were handed over. The appeal is going to fail but buys them 2-3 months before they testify. Remember, this is a civil case and in the end was never going to result in jail time.

5. YES (and dump that clown Manhattan DA Alvin Bragg for stopping the state's fraud case v Trump)

whilst not going after Trump, Bragg is doing THIS:

DA Alvin Bragg Still Won’t Drop Charges Against Manhattan Woman Charged with Murder Who Says She Acted in Self-Defense

Tracy McCarter won a small concession from prosecutors, but the case drags on despite the new progressive district attorney’s labelling her charges “unjust” while looking to woo voters.

Tracy McCarter won a small concession from Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg Monday in a case alleging she murdered her estranged husband. But the DA’s office stopped short of dropping a murder charge for an act she says was in self-defense.

Bragg has been in the hot seat for how his office has handled the Upper West Side woman’s case, after he called her prosecution “unjust” during his campaign running as a progressive prosecutor set on reducing incarceration before taking office Jan. 1.

“I #StandWithTracy,” wrote Bragg in a September 2020 tweet. “Prosecuting a domestic violence survivor who acted in self-defense is unjust.”

McCarter claimed to be acting in-self defense, and said she feared for her life because of abuse by her husband, James Murray, who was reportedly drunk the night in early March 2020 when she allegedly stabbed him once in the chest with a knife.

6. Evidence is meaningless. Trump will never see the inside of a courtroom

much less a jail. He is too big to be allowed to fall. It would set a bad precedent for the other big crooks in the country.

If you can take down a former President for his crimes, what does that mean for the rest our oligarchs? I mean, who would they come after next, big pharma, oil companies? It is not going to happen in a government that is bought and paid for by the wealthy. Don't fool yourself into thinking that we are on the path to plutocracy, we are already there. The right is trying to make the transition from that form of government to full Fascism so that they can keep us whiners in our places.

Government by the people, I don't think so:

Thirty-five Senate candidates won in 2018, spending an average of $15.7 million to do so. The price of victory was far lower for successful House candidates, averaging just over $2 million.

(Bolding mine)

Once all the evidence is expeditiously gathered, with or without the special counsel that we recommend, the justice department must indict him.

Also, Tribe implies that Trump may use his reliance on Eastman as a defence, suggesting that Eastman might need to be indicted and flipped before Trump is indicted. Hopefully the judge reviewing and releasing Eastman’s emails will work quickly.
