But when it comes to help for everyday Americans, they immediately default to their "too expensive" stance.

All I am going to comment on though, is that AOC is popular within some democratic circles and with nation-wide appeal, that doesn't mean she will win in more purple-ish district or red states. Don't forget that WV went for Trump over 30 points. The "democratic base" there is a lot smaller there than other states. You need to somehow pull in "independent" and crossover republican votes to win the senate seat there.
