Not so much anymore.

It has occurred to me that some of what we are hearing is strategic asking. We are not the only ones he is appealing to and I suspect there is a reason he continues to make this ask knowing it won't be forthcoming.

Part of why I think this has to do with how much public support is needed for continued support overall. Pressure must be applied to all politicians, worldwide, through the people of the countries he is asking. If people think he believes this is something to ask for yet doesn't get it reinforces the public view in support of giving him whatever it takes up to the point of his ask which is considerable and warranted.

It's the strongest argument I can guess at for his continuing to ask. He will be receiving a massive ground support beyond what has already been used, I think, and I hope someone in Russia does the world a favor and removes pooty from power to end the madness. Even alleged allies are bailing on the czar so this could end soon.

He must be seen doing everything in his power to stop the aggression, knowing full well many of his requests will be rejected. This is one reason I believe most have let his remarks about NATO article 5 never looking so weak slide.

But, should messages like that become more amplified and become construed as attempts to goad Russia into continuing to violate NATO airspace and test individual member nations' resolve, he may very well fracture what unity Biden has been able to cobble together in the Alliance for further lethal aid going forward. He has so far balanced shame with praise but that can rapidly turn opinion for the worse, especially amongst smaller members of the Alliance who currently depend heavily on other nations for defense.

Being a danger, it is a fine line being traversed here.

I agree that the morale aspect is a portion of the rationale.

I don't discount that he just had this discussion with three leaders of supportive neighboring countries. I would imagine there was a good amount of strategizing what roles they can play as NATO members at this point. Being a united front, I think there is something pretty big formulating and it involves all the free countries who can act.

We'll see. Waiting for Biden to speak.

Start watching at the 40 minute mark. It clearly explains why a NFZ is an absolute gift for Putler.
