Fox News host Tucker Carlson criticised the strong support for Ukraine from US civic, business, and political leaders, calling it the largest political flash mob in American history.
Mr Carlson compared it to the support for public health measures during the pandemic, such as mask mandates.
Masks were a training exercise. Mandatory masking was a shock collar designed to teach Americans unquestioning obedience and, of course, it worked because shock collars do work, Carlson said on Tuesday night. In a single day last month we watched, for example, our entire professional class dutifully changed their Twitter avatars from mask up to the now mandatory Ukrainian flag.
The Fox News host claimed that there was no debate about doing this, no reflection. There was not even a real conversation. They just did it. Millions of people simply assumed reflexively a partisan position in a highly complicated foreign crisis, the next crisis, and as they did it, they moved in perfect lockstep.

Put your money where your mouth is and move to Russia if you think it's so great.

(9,109 posts)Many of us who remember the Cold War not only remember reactionaries and other right-wingers hammering anyone to the left of John C. Calhoun as tools of the Kremlin but also those Republicans who erred on the side of decency and bipartisanship. Many of us also remember the incredulity and disgust many of us centrists and progressives had for the real-deal left-wing shameless apologists for the Soviet Union.
We thought it was wrong then and we still think that being a willing tool of Purims Kremlin is still a Very Bad Thing.
Heres looking at you, Tucker.

(11,725 posts)The term "useful idiot" was used to describe people who were gullible and tricked into believing in a cause. They are useful because they are idiots and do not know any better but to blindly promote an ideology.
Carlson is worse than a useful idiot. He is a cynical mercenary who knows that what he is saying is false. He does what he does because he gets money and power.

(101,265 posts)because they're not psychopaths, unlike Carlson. Really, he is psychopathic; he shows no empathy for others' suffering, just does everything to advance his own career.

(2,836 posts)how human beings can come together "in lockstep" with the same idea of right and wrong without "relflection" or "conversation".
And pity those who don't get it and those to which "never again" means "we need to think about it".

(2,214 posts)Koch Brothers, Fox News, Trump, MTG, Boebert, Hawley, etc. New and old, it is clear that the agents have been activated, the handlers have received instructions and and deep agents are now exposing themselves.
I wonder how many professors, businessmen and political figures have suddenly received a signal and instructions? I wonder how many of them have been paying attention to what Russia has become? I wonder how many remembered that they hired on before the fall and Putin took over. How many of these now have American friends, families, daughter in laws and spouses?
I would hope that they have spoken to the NSA and been told to cooperate for now and keep our country, their country now, informed and safe.
