Possible explanation for the Daylight Saving bill

I've posted in this thread: https://www.democraticunderground.com/100216492557
but doubt if it will be seen.

I'm not a lover of daylight saving time; I'm an early riser, love to walk the dogs early, before anyone is about....BUT....

Think about the businesses, small or otherwise, who were most severely hit and disadvantaged by Covid. In my mind those are bars, restaurants, cafes etc. Those folk have taken a beating.

I've long believed that daylight saving is primarily an economic measure to draw customers into these types of businesses in the long evenings of summer.

So, I dislike it but I bet there are thousands of small businesses in the Northern Hemi, going into summer, to whom this is an absolute bounty.
