"This week, Dolly Parton entered a new pantheon of chart-topping success: New York Times best-selling fiction author. 

"Run, Rose, Run" — a mystery novel from Parton co-released with A-list author James Patterson — debuted at No. 1 on the New York Times best-selling fiction print and e-book list this week, according to the weekly sales chart. Parton released "Run, Rose, Run" earlier this month alongside an accompanying album of the same name. 

The book also debuted at No. 1 among hardcover fiction releases, per the New York Times. The chart-topping success of "Run, Rose, Run" extends to No. 1 slots on weekly best-selling book lists from USA Today and the Washington Post. 

On releasing her first fiction book, Parton previously told The Tennessean: "I always thought I'd write a novel, or a mystery, at some point in my life, because I do love to tell stories. I thought, 'This would be a wonderful opportunity to do that.' I wouldn't have to do it but once — not to say that I won't — but this is something else that I can add to the wonderful things I've been involved in [during] my life."...(more)
