Yeah traffic is a problem - everyone is trying to get home rather than simply getting out of the evacuation zones.

(118,724 posts)"Sirens blaring across parts of Hawaii urged residents to seek higher ground, as a tsunami -- triggered by a sizable 7.7-magnitude earthquake in western Canada -- headed toward them.
Waves between 3 and 7 feet are expected to lash the islands, beginning about 10:28 p.m. local time Saturday (4:28 a.m. Sunday ET), the Pacific Tsunami Warning Center said.
"Basically this tsunami is pointed right at us," said Gerard Fryer, senior geophysicist at the center.
The impact could last for hours. "

(297,405 posts)all the information you folks provided. I had my laptop & bag packed and ready to go but we're on the 3rd floor, 2 blks from the Ocean in Kapaa and nobody else was leaving so I stayed, too.
When I tried to fire up my LT it wouldn't go on..the electricity wouldn't connect so I was without it until Monday when it mysteriously turned on again! YAY! I was just getting ready to take it to the computer hospital and tried it One More Time.

(297,405 posts)It was my headsup that we were having a tsunami warning. I didn't hear the sirens because I have fans going for white noise an because it's been so HOT!
It all worked out but there were some scary moments when we didn't know if it was going to be a big Wave or not. My laptop and bag was packed just in case but we stayed on the 3rd floor 2 blks from the Ocean..and, then when I tried to turn my LT back on..the connection wouldn't connect between the adaptor and pc. So I read a book!
