As the Russian invasion of Ukraine moves into its fourth week, unconventional actors continue to target Russian state-backed businesses with a string of hacks and data leaks the latest apparently referencing pro-hacktivism comments made by Hillary Clinton.
The targeted organization is Transneft, the Russian state-controlled oil pipeline giant. On Thursday, leak hosting website Distributed Denial of Secrets published a link to 79GB of emails from the Omega Company, the research and development division of Transneft.
Headquartered in Moscow, Transneft is the largest pipeline company in the world. As a state-owned Russian enterprise, it is now blocked from receiving investments from the US market under the terms of sanctions against Russia.

Unusually, according to a note from Distributed Denial of Secrets accompanying the email upload, the source dedicated the leaks to Hillary Clinton. In an interview with MSNBC in February, Clinton took the unconventional step of encouraging Anonymous to launch cyberattacks against Russia.

(4,438 posts)I sure wish Al Gore would have faught harder in 2000.
And if that damn butterfly ballot thing in Florida had never happened.
Just think what a different world we would all be in today.

(27,820 posts)The real problem was that his own supporters didn't back him up enough. I got in arguments with my own friends who thought he should give up. They honestly didn't see what a great president he would have made (I have always begged to differ). They didn't work on his campaign. They didn't call their elected officials during the recount, and they never seemed to understand he really won.
I ran into this with Carter, too. Sure, they all slobber over him now, but I am the one who worked on his campaign (even though I didn't even vote for him in the primary, mostly because of Ted Kennedy's stance on socialized medicine). But some of those same people voted for John Anderson.
It's so maddening. I remember calling Slade Gorton's office during the recount practically in tears. I couldn't have been more frustrated, but it was my fellow Democrats who annoyed me the most. They never gave Gore the backup he needed
The media was likewise unhelpful. Why didn't they call out the Brooks Brothers riot? Why was Tim Russert so blatantly pro Bush? Why did Margaret Carlson say it was "fun" to insult Gore?
