There is not a shred of daylight between Putin and TFG,

And between the 2 propaganda-created cults.

Perhaps the most serious problem of our time is finding a solution to this manufactured authoritarianism, catalyzed by authoritarian media.

This is serious stuff, folks. Each cult will learn and feed off each other. We know people are dying "there".

We know some have already died here (Jan 6, but also the deaths via antivaxx)

I fear it is only going to get worse. A horrendous Op Ed in the NYT proves they don't get what is going on, and why, at all.

The First Amendment protects the freedom of the press and really makes it hard to rein in the fascist media and reich-wing talking heads. As long as they keep spewing vile bile, polarizing propaganda, and hateful harrumphs, we will never be able to start returning those folk from the mental dystopian psychosis called "conservatism." If we can figure out how to turn down the knob on their vitriol while still keeping the First Amendment intake and healthy, then maybe our society can improve.

The only tools we have are to try to dry up the advertising dollars supporting that Bovine Pasture Pastry, keep the spotlight shining on the depths of their evil actions, and maybe more ridicule.

Dump has said he admires Putin's ability to off people. Does anyone doubt if he had the authority Putin does that dump would be jailing and killing anyone he wanted to?

but my take on their often deep roots return to bedrock laissez-faire capitalism is that is where wealthy people gravitate in their anti-government fervor, and all anti-government groups, governments, capitalists aggregate in that space. NYT gives a veneer of mainstream but always returns to that place, in my opinion.

I think the only things separating Trump from Putin are the different systems of government and Putin being a more competent evil.
