it WILL become “true” for a lot of unsuspecting or non-thinking people. The message will soak in and become an acknowledged “truth” even when it’s a flat-out provable lie.

Cokie's Law - about politics and media coverage...

Cokie's Law states that it does not matter if it is true or not. It's out there.

Cokie Roberts journalist, author, reporter

Then they can apologize in a much smaller forum. (If they do)

I learned the hard way why you number them. Nothing like dropping a COBOL program and having to sort them by reading each line of code.

We used to take a marker and mark the top of the cards from one corner of our card deck to the other. That way, if we dropped it, we could more easily put the cards back in order.

I spent a lot of time punching cards.

May the goddesses love you for doing the same

My friends and I were much happier then, with very simple pleasures and still had a lot of fun. Zero electronics except TV, stereos and radio. Non-invasive.

I have yet to see a Republican politician pay any sort of political price for absolutely most blatant hypocrisy.

"We have always been at war with Eastasia."

I remember reading that in high school. It took a bit of suspension of disbelief to imagine a world like Orwell's where that would work.

And now I'm living in that world.

They have yet to catch up to the fact that there are devices that record images, still and moving, and sound. Further, that they make them available to anyone with even rudimentary search skills, and forever.

There is no other explanation for a lot of the tripe that they say.

I liked my genetics class and wanted to do well. I was acing the exams, but needed to ace the lab too. BUT when it came to our fruit fly crosses, my partner and I some how got some odd results. This wasn't really unexpected. No matter how cold they kept the lab, there were always the little suckers flying around. My partner went to check our final cross and started freaking out because there were some curly wings when there should have been none. The lab assistant told him to calm down and said one word - "Microfiche". Sure enough, we went and looked up what our results should have been and reported that. I got my "A".
