DU: A trajectory

* Coup 2000 was devastating. (I thought, little did I know.)

* 2001 DU, my refuge.

* 8 years of Shrub/CHEENEE. I thought this was the rock bottom - HAH!

* (Deleting th'other losses)

* Hillary, Barrack, some respite.

* And then came Drumpf.

* And then PLAGUE and NUCLEAR threat

*** DU got me through - UNTIL NOW!

We've been through some real shit here, (I joined in 2004) and we'll make it out the other side of this together.

That's what family is for, and you're a part of my DU family. We're all in knots right now, it's our new abnormal normal. There's so very much on our plates were trying to juggle. When it gets to be too much set them down and let the rest of us do the fretting for you for a bit. When you're recharged come back and pickup for someone else needing a break.

We'll overcome together.

I sometimes let my mind wander to where we'd be, right now, if he'd lost but it's such a dark thought I bury it quickly. We're so lucky to have a sensible, seasoned diplomat leading us right this moment.

11. I think it's a crazy cycle/pendulum thing - after Shrub *anybody* could win & OBAMA saw it

12. While I don't disagree, I do think Biden winning hopefully helped ground us a bit.

I know I feel more grounded. I was hopeful and on fire during the Obama years. I believed in the fallacy we were growing and evolving to be stronger as a whole.

As horrific as this war is in Ukraine I'm silently hoping seeing the devastation being done to a young democratic nation by Putin may open a few eyes and minds. Putin's desires for Russia aren't dissimilar from the far right here for the US. We need to be screaming this from the rooftops.

A remix with 'I've got all my bothers and sisters in me'.

We've been through so much, we've got this, too. ❤️

Even if it takes us with it. But we'll be here until then because, where else is there to go and not feel alone?

*Hillary-Obama wars 2007-08
Big fractures in DU, bigger than Hillary/Bernie

*Obama wins. Decides not to prosecute GWB. All hell breaks loose

*Meme of 'Obama going soft' promulgated. Break off groups - Old Elm Tree etc

Dunno if you remember it this way - there was a big purge at the time. Well, purge is not a good word - to Stainesque. But a shitfight broke out in the GLBT group and many were banned and spent a year or so trying to make themselves into martyrs.

I'm vague on the details. Anyone????

The use of diplomacy, well strike that for now, being able to participate in diplomacy again seems to have us in the catbirds seat. But that's just my own misinformation. It appears that diplomacy works.
