New Photos Released in NYC Street Ambush Death of 87-Year-Old Voice Coach
A top NYPD official on Tuesday called the case a "disgusting, disgraceful offense committed against a vulnerable, elderly female who was doing nothing but walking down the streets of New York City."

But, i suspect many of us on DU are very strong, unique individuals, which just happen to share the same beliefs in humanity. So, DU might be the closest we'll ever get to group therapy.

but a steady one. Technology has helped, as has trade.

But we keep taking those backward steps, and we're in backwards motion these days.

Find her and lock her away in tall walls with curled razor wire in top.

She brutally killed a harmless elderly woman.

She needs to spend the rest of her conscious days where she can not do anything like that again.

The question is-- what is the best way to do that. I do not think that locking her up in a box is that way.

I'm sure she has had previous violent encounters with people and has been left to walk every time.

I want to protect the innocent from the violent and not allow the violent to continue to run amok and kill.

We've done your homicidal, violent people just need hugs line of thinking.

It did not work.

it's uses and agreeing to it.

But, that won't happen, so we debate it endlessly and ultimately come to a half-assed solution.

If you really want to know, these are the things that stood out:

1. She is female. Most violent crime is committed by men.
2. Her hair and clothes are clean, indicating that she is not homeless.
3. She is not at all hiding her appearance. No face mask, no scarf obscuring her face. In fact this photo is pretty good and someone should be able to identfiy.

This is not at all what I expected.

If there is any connection between Gustern and her killer, and someone among them can ID her and knows them both, we should learn about it quickly.

From random assault causing homicide to premeditated murder.

Even if recognizing someone you had a prior dispute with and mere seconds lapse before the assault, that can be premeditated murder.

I imagine Ms Gustern told many clients they lacked talent over the years.

Not an excuse to murder.

she was seen on video in a "physical altercation" with her fiance just seven minutes after clobbering that elderly gal....also, her neighbors say she is a "problem tenant" due to aggressive tendencies

that led to her identification and arrest. The tipster also told police that she was hiding out at her parents' house.
Edit... she actually turned herself in, but the police had already come to her parents' home looking for her at that point.

Gustern — whose students included Blondie singer Debbie Harry — was left “bleeding profusely from the head” after hitting the cement that night, Assistant District Attorney Justin McNabney said in court.

Pazienza “briskly” walked off, the prosecutor said, adding that the two women were strangers.

The accused killer then stayed in the neighborhood for nearly 30 minutes — even watching as ambulances and police cars rushed to Gustern’s aid 13 minutes after the attack, McNabney said.

Seven minutes after allegedly pushing Gustern, cameras caught Pazienza having a “physical altercation” with a man believed to be her fiancé, the ADA said. The two then took a train from Penn Station back to their home in Astoria.

Pazienza was supposed to walk down the aisle in June, instead she hid her face behind her long, red hair and said nothing as she was led from the precinct to a police cruiser, but onlookers had plenty to say.

"Horrible, absolutely horrible," said a Chelsea resident who didn't want to be identified. "How do you shove an old lady? How do you shove anybody?"

Instead of a priest, Pazienza cried in front of a judge as bail was set at half a million dollars cash for alleged manslaughter.

"She was crying. She was in pain. She was being accused of a horrible act and she's a very moral, right, just person, who went to high school, went to college," defense lawyer Arthur Aidala said. "Has a job. Has a fiancé. Has a family. For her, she's in the twilight zone."

----------

"She crossed the street, shouted something derogatory at my grandmother, and pushed her down," he said. "And then fled across the street and just fled."

Authorities believe Pazienza and her fiancé took the subway to Queens after the fatal attack. Later, she reportedly fled to her parents' home on Long Island. Her social media accounts have been deleted.

Prosecutors said Pazienza crossed the street in the Manhattan neighborhood of Chelsea, allegedly called Gustern a derogatory name and pushed her "as hard as [Gustern] had ever been hit in her life."
