Jetblue lands at night in small MA city. Offboarding Staff had left for the night

https://www.sfgate.com/news/article/JetBlue-passengers-left-waiting-on-plane-after-17006379.php

The flight records show the plane landed at the small airport outside the city of Worcester around 12:15 a.m. but did not actually park at the gate until after 1 a.m.

"It was silence, then the pilot said, 'I have something embarrassing to tell you guys — there is nobody to get you off the flight,'" Sabrina Ruelle told sister station WCVB on Tuesday. "They had no staff available to get us off the airplane!"

Police showed up to help assist with the situation.

"The state police were there and they were going to have to evacuate us, but then they got a hold of a JetBlue manager and had to have him drive from his house to the airport to let us off the airplane," Ruelle said.

I can imagine this happening. Tiny airport is locked up until 1 hr until flight..then tiny staff arrives for checkin. The tiniest airport operation ive experienced

I flew out of there a few weeks ago.

TSA and the counter agent didn’t show up till about 45 minutes before departure. The United desk agent was the same guy loading the bags on the plane!

It was a charter flight from Europe. Had to wait for staff to come to airport and let us off and then go through customs.

Worcester is an hour from Boston, Providence, Manchester and Hartford. I love Worcester, but, does it really need an airport.

That's another small commercial airport that only staffs as needed apparently. We were on a "partner of Southwest" flight that landed at lunchtime - had to sit for about 20 min. The pilot was apologetic and told us we were early and everyone was gone to lunch. Apparently even the security staff.

My guess is the case in the article, the Jet Blue rep in the area didn't realize a flight was coming in after midnight.
