(13,417 posts)Mariupol is essentially overrun with Russian troops. Also, there are reports of that the bulk of the Ukrainian army in the eastern regions of the country near the Russian border and largely surrounded. Sure, Kyiv may not have fallen and the Russian advance may have stalled there; but that does not mean a stalemate exists between the two countries.

(8,289 posts)But Ukraine has been picking back up dozens of smaller cities closer to Kherson keeping Russia from holding ground around Kyiv. Even if Mariupol falls to Russia, Kherson may quickly switch hands back to Ukraine.

But I think Mariupol will not be held for too long. And I think Kherson will be retaken by Ukraine shortly.

(8,289 posts)If Belarus is really putting troops in, that might be an additional 62,000 on Russia's side? It may give Russia at least an initial reboots in momentum.
