General Discussion
Related: Editorials & Other Articles, Issue Forums, Alliance Forums, Region ForumsDoes anyone have solid info on the supposed "hypersonic" missile with which Russia says
they destroyed an underground Ukrainian ammo warehouse in western Ukraine?
Today I read that the US had confirmed this first-ever use of the weapons in combat and then later read that it had been shown to be a Russian hoax and that satellite photos showed that the Russian video was shot in EASTERN Ukraine last week.
What's true?

(7,611 posts)The video of the claimed hit on a weapons depot the Russians released is clearly phony.
However the Ukrainians confirmed a hit on a missile depot in western Ukraine but not the type of missile used. The Pentagon confirmed to CNN that the Russians have used hypersonic missiles (plural) but as far as I can see not yet that one was used in western Ukraine

(6,390 posts)If you took everything seriously about the reporting, you would wonder why Russians are not extinct. No different from the reporting we had on Iraq and Afghanistan, it was all precision weapons and only combatants were getting killed. Hitting wedding parties for one person (and at times when they already left), black sites, accidently killing journalists, manufactured war hero's, etc.
And of course, we need to keep the sanctions on Cuba, in a year the government will come tumbling down and according to some, we had Vietnam all wrapped up, but negative publicity forced us out...just in case =>

(6,390 posts)I've also been following some twitter feeds that show on the ground coverage, but can't watch too much of it. This post will tell you why; https://www.democraticunderground.com/?com=view_post&forum=1002&pid=16503060
And there are days I just walk away from all news; I just can't stomach it. On my mom's side of the family, they are obviously Ukranian in origin. On my father, Russian for sure and may be some Lithuanian. And I know I have a lot of Jewish insertions in both lines.
Both my wife and I come from a family of refugees and as is such, have a lot of unfortunate stories. A number approach this war like a team sport, it's not to me, it's just tragedy on a massive scale. And I know this is unpopular, but I see failings from all sides to prevent this. Having relatives buried (if lucky) in unmarked graves gives you a different perspective.

Both sides of my parents family had horrific WWII stories. FIL went down on the USS Hornet, spent 24+ hrs in the water, uncles that were part of the first wave on Iwo Jima, fought in France post D Day, Older nurse friends that spent time in Africa. All lived, some more scarred physically and psychologically.
It is very disturbing.

The apparent first use of Russia's air-launched hypersonic ballistic missile against a target in Ukraine doesn't all add up.
