Guardian: 'Kenosha (WI) off-duty police officer shown putting knee on 12-year-old girl's neck.

Officer resigns from school security guard job after officials release footage of fight and girl’s father calls for criminal charges.'

https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2022/mar/19/kenosha-off-duty-police-officer-shown-putting-knee-on-12-year-old-girls-neck

[School officials in Kenosha, Wisconsin released surveillance footage that showed an off-duty police officer putting his knee on a 12-year-old girl’s neck to restrain her amid a lunchtime fight.

The Kenosha Unified School District released redacted footage of the 4 March fight on Friday. It showed the officer, Shawn Guetschow, intervening in the fight and scuffling
with the girl, before falling to the ground and hitting his head on a table.

Guetschow, working as a security guard at the school, then pushed the girl’s head into the ground and used his knee on her neck for about half a minute before handcuffing her and walking her out of the cafeteria.

Jerrel Perez, the girl’s father, has called for criminal charges against Guetschow for using a type of restraint that was banned for Wisconsin law enforcement officers last year. He said his daughter was in therapy and seeing a neurologist for her injuries.]

Where do these cretinous law-enforcement types come from? As soon as we figure
that out we can Send Them Back! There's more text and a photo at the link. I have
edited the text to meet our 4-paragraph rule.

A 12 year old can be tiny so the video helped.

The girls were in a fight and needed restraint and removal before it turned into a brawl. Kids were already getting worked up.

I wouldn't be defending my child committing assault and flailing hands at school. And it was flailing hands. That's another thing.
Neither one of them knew a thing about fighting.

But what escapes me is why some “security guards” or “school resource officers” don’t use non violent techniques to de-escalate the situation. The child could have died from that neck injury.

I am not sure his knee was ever on her neck.

The take down, restraint and removal was quick.

You just want to allow kids to assault each other?

Over George Floyd was because we watched the video. We saw Floyd on the ground, we saw him not fighting back, we saw him passing out, we saw how long the officer stayed in that position.

Maybe some of you need to watch this one too before breaking out your pitchforks- and ask yourself what your reaction would have been if it had been your daughter being assaulted by this kid and the officer hadn’t physically intervened. It’s not obvious his knee was ever even on her neck, I see a quick intervention, and quick release of a large adult sized girl, as soon as he had her physically restrained. I see her walking away just fine. I know I’m violating the sacred “cops can do no right” rule here but I don’t really care. Common sense.

15. What is the reason for the tackling and knee on that one but

no tackling of the other? Seems all they had to do was intervene between the fighters but the stupid cop couldn't control himself. Didn't want to miss an opportunity I guess.
