(21,733 posts)I think the key to dealing with Putin may be to exploit his personality disorders.
He's already isolating himself, firing his generals, firing his personal staff.
A rift between him and his oligarchs, a rift between Putin and his security agency, a rift between him and his military, a rift between him and his citizens.
He's going to go through some things.

(703 posts)And if its a psyop its a stupid one to play with a madman with nukes!
This actually makes me angry.

(1,303 posts)Adding a measure of psy-ops to the mix doesnt make it any more likely that Putin will resort to nukes than any other kind of warmaking. As soon as I read this i though it was the kind of thing that would make Putin more paranoid and irrational and, even if there werent actors in the Kremlin plotting to depose him, at least make those who are close to him worry more about his irrational, paranoid, impulses, and, who knows, begin to plot against him.
As others have observed, one of the most likely ways for this war to end is for Russians to end it. Whether this comes in a palace coup or otherwise.

(11,285 posts)that no one in intelligence, planning or command - on either side - is going to give this even the slightest bit of credence. If there had been any even halfway serious intent here - it would have been through back-channel whispers.

(11,285 posts)Seems hardly likely this is true. And if not - it would seem clumsy, amateurish, ill-timed - and probably dangerous and counter productive.
So yeah - BS - and stupid BS at that. - ----- --- ----
