Ukraine: US condemns 'unconscionable' forced deportations of civilians from Mariupol

Forced civilian deportations from Mariupol to Russia are “disturbing” and “unconscionable” if true, the US has said, after Ukrainian officials accused Moscow of transporting thousands of people against their will out of the devastated port city.

Linda Thomas-Greenfield, America’s ambassador to the UN, said the US had not yet confirmed the allegations, made on Saturday by Mariupol city council and repeated in detail on Sunday by Ukraine’s human rights spokesperson, Lyudmyla Denisova.

Terrible place to have to go. It is an extra cruelty.

It’s amazing what the west will allow Putin to get away with just because they’re scared he might use nukes.

When he takes the Baltics, Article 5 will be revealed to be meaningless, as the fear that prevents the west from intervening in Ukraine will still be there, stronger than ever.

He can't even handle a small operation...

When this is over... they won't have the military force to do much of anything.

Putin could send one little Babushka with a pitchfork over the Latvian border, and threaten to nuke them if they didn’t surrender…

If NATO is too scared of Putin’s to intervene in Ukraine now, they aren’t likely to defend the Baltics when Putin invades, regardless of Article 5…
