I told their commander at the checkpoint they might want to avoid eating stolen fruit now that someone might tell the guerillas they steal fruit. But, it raises another point. A good strategy in this types of situation would be to poison some of your own food stocks.

Russian soldiers are reportedly hungery and stealing food. So, poison some of your own and just wait for them to take it on their own. IF enough people do it then eventually they are going to become very untrusting of the food they are stealing. They'll probably start forcing people to taste the food before taking it, so just make sure you mix in the poisoned food with the regular and have some system to remember which is which that they won't pick up on, and do your best to only taste the good stocks.

Or, use a poison with a longer timeframe and purge it after they leave, before it kills you.

Warfarin

The anticoagulant drug warfarin is widely used to prevent and treat deep-vein thrombosis and pulmonary embolism, and to prevent stroke in patients who have atrial fibrillation, valvular heart disease, or a prosthetic heart valve.

In 1945, Link considered using a Warfarin derivative as a rodenticide. It acted too slowly to be a practical poison.

An early recipient of warfarin was US president Dwight D. Eisenhower, who was prescribed the drug after a myocardial infarction in 1955.

It could be a false story designed to turn opinion against Ukraine. Since the only source is apparently a Russian soldier calling home, I'm doubly suspicious of the truth and the purpose of this story.

If true, it's not something the Ukrainian government has promoted or confirmed. Are civilians in Ukraine defending themselves from murderous attacks? Probably. Why wouldn't they? Is this particular story true? Who knows.

If it's causing you to think negative thoughts about Ukraine... maybe it's propaganda that is working?

Wonder what poisons "babushkas" would presumably be familiar with that their urban granddaughers would not be. Guessing plants of the nightshade family might be available in the countryside.
