Republicans in a nutshell

No Lie with Brian Tyler Cohen @NoLieWithBTC 4h
NEW: In his opening statement, Chuck Grassley (R-IA) whined and lectured Ketanji Brown Jackson, telling her the Constitution should be interpreted “as it was understood when written” in 1787. At that time, only white land-owning men could vote.

I couldn't stomach it.

The founder's intent. The Constitution has had many changes since the founders signed the original Declaration. It is a Living Document.

Not that it was any secret but they aren't even trying to lie about it anymore.

Only they are allowed to interpret what the documents mean.

"the Constitution should be interpreted “as it was understood when written?"

As a living document, it was intended to evolve by the fuckers who wrote it. So to interpret it any other way is to not understand that THAT WAS THE UNDERSTANDING OF IT WHEN IT WAS WRITTEN!!

Russians are such stupid fuck!

The ability to add amendments was exactly their way of making sure the Constitution grew and evolved as the country did.

Grassley is purposefully ignoring the founders' intentions.

Those fellows who wrote the Constitution wrote the provisions for amending it.

Get it, Republicans? They gave us the mechanism to make changes as time, technology and the country advanced. The Founding Fathers (an expression I detest) intended for the Constitution to be amended.

If they didn't, they wouldn't have explained how to do it.

Damn, Republicans are stupid.

He said that every generation, meaning every 20
years, had a right to their own Revolution. He said he hoped it would always be a peaceful process, but saw no problem with rewriting the Constitution every 20 years.

Besides, if Grassley were correct, no woman or African American in the Senate would be allowed to vote anyway.
