I've probably mentioned before that I've become his shrink.
I was kind of hoping he would give me some encouragement regarding my helpless anxiety over the situation in Ukraine.
Turns out that I had to talk HIM down.
The gist of our conversation centered around me telling him that I was looking out the window into the darkness last night, trying to imagine the constant stress of wondering if a missile is going to hit your home at any moment. Of not having any food or water. Of having to grab a bag and get the fuck out of your own country.
We both came to the conclusion that it is so heinous, so unfathomable, that it is almost impossible to discuss.
We also discussed what Russia did in Syria.
Finally, we both had the same thought at the same time...a rather large minority of the people in the US particularly think that their freedom is being taken away by being asked to put a fucking piece of fabric over their mouth and nose.
Makes you realize that physicians are no different than everyone else, which is a comforting thought.
The same fears, the same uncertainties, the same doubts and confusion.

People really need to talk right now. Reassurance that what they are seeing is real and it isn't only them.
