The entire area; many blooms, the Tidal Basin, Jefferson Memorial, the so green Mall [currently hosting giant [wheels with 5' diameters] ag vehicles, the museums.
A large area, but easy to get around in. Many bike and scooter rentals to use. The so convenient Circulator buses, $1 fare - masks required and enforced. [Argumentive senior couple objected. Driver blocked them, said, 'mask'! then he said 'NO!' . They complied].
The whole area, and waterfront, such a great symbol of our country.
[Felt so great to be there. So glad we got rid of trump et al, and get our country back!].

(15,751 posts)You would not believe how much the non Federal area has changed.
No more free parking on the Mall either. Pay parking, preferably by app. 3hr enforced limit. Much more crowded.
Across the river many dozens of new skyscrapers.

From the National Mall NPS sums it up nicely:
PEAK BLOOM! PEAK BLOOM! PEAK BLOOM! PEAK BLOOM! PEAK BLOOM! PEAK BLOOM! PEAK BLOOM! PEAK BLOOM! PEAK BLOOM! PEAK BLOOM!
On the bright side, MeTV ran my favorite episode of "The Rifleman."

(63,221 posts)So beautiful! One of my favorite things about spring is the flowering trees.
It is still a little early for them here in Boston, but in another few weeks we should be seeing them. Unfortunately they don't last very long, but they are so beautiful while they are in bloom. We so need this right now. It has been a long, tough winter in many ways and the flowering trees always give one a sense of hope and renewal.

I accidentally hit the cherry blossoms one year when they were early (I was trying to avoid crowds). It snowed overnight and was quite chilly in the morning. No one was out so we decided to peek at the peak blossoms through the slush. Then the sun came out. We had about two hours of gorgeous, cool, sunny weather until people made it out the door and to the Tidal Basin. It was spectacular and calm. Unbelievable stroke of luck.

(14,598 posts)I've been to DC nearly 20xs from ?'72 - 2012 (Obama's 2nd Inauguration). Two of my earliest visits were to see The Cherry Blossoms, then museums.
About half for almost all pure fun (The Museums, etc), the others for Marches, and Demonstrations, and the 25th Anniv of The March on Washington.
Even going there for political statements I or we always made time to visit one museum.
I Love 💖 The National Mall. When I top the hill by the GW Monument, and see towards the Reflecting Pool, and the Lincoln Memorial. *Happy Sigh*. So beautiful!
Blow a kiss for me to the blossoms. 👍🙂

(8,261 posts)I was looking forward to getting out of the office a little early. Independence ave was a show. I am not sure if it was due to the moronic truckers (who mostly dont have big rigs, mostly pick ups and SUVs) or the early bloom of the Cherry Blossoms. Either way, my 25 minutes was turned into an hour and fifteen. Mostly jammed up from AG to the Mandarin trying to figure a way on to 395.
