Sometimes the worst abusers are those so far into denial that they must punish others to express their own sense of damage.

Sometimes, as has been observed and documented by MUCH greater and more relevantly-experienced minds than yours truly's, the motivation and the psychology behind it is apparent. Frankly, to me, this shouts overcompensating - for something. And we've all seen, heard, and read many accounts of the kind of action you describe - playing out in real life.

The famed entertainer Art Linkletter once hosted a popular daytime TV show called "People are Funny." Well, thats' certainly true. They are. But "funny" sometimes has a negative connotation - and well-deserved.
