Russian athlete set to lose Olympic gold medal over doping.

Russian race walker Elena Lashmanova, the 2012 Olympic champion, has been banned for two years for doping and is set to lose her gold medal, the Athletics Integrity Unit (AIU) said Monday.
The 29-year-old won the 20km gold medal at the London Olympics and will also be stripped of her 2013 world championship title.

“Lashmanova has accepted the sanction proposed by the AIU,” the AIU said in a statement.

Lashmanova had already been suspended for two years in 2014 for doping, although that did not affect her previous medals.

She didn't get medals pulled retroactively the first time. Seems like strike 2. Does the silver medalist get the gold?
If not, seems weak for a second offense.
Also, she got caught TWICE? Must not be too bright either.

So the Chinese athlete who finished 3rd and currently holds the silver should get upgraded to gold. And the Russian who finished 5th was banned too, so the medals will end up China, China and China. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Athletics_at_the_2012_Summer_Olympics_%E2%80%93_Women%27s_20_kilometres_walk

As NBC puts it:

Russia originally won 18 medals and eight golds in track and field at the 2012 Olympics. After Lashmanova’s medal is officially stripped, those totals will be seven medals and two golds.
