(3,282 posts)clearest, and maybe easiest, is to never let it launch. Shoot down the plane.
Reminder that in any conflict with NATO, Russia will not have air capabilities, much less superiority.

(1,723 posts)impossible. Things that move that fast can't maneuver well by default at those speeds without tearing apart and burning up.
Also at those speeds, something the size of a small marble impact is devastating.
I guarantee you that there is a group of engineers at Raytheon laughing their asses off at that statement.

(15,192 posts)Yes, "hypersonic" missiles can be scary, but this is nothing but fear mongering.
Please understand that if the United States brought our full force to bare, the Russian military wouldn't last a week.
Love it, or hate it, we average over $800B a year spending on defense.
You could argue that we do that because the entire world would love to take what we have, or that we have pissed off enough of the world that we need the protection of a strong military.
One thing is for sure. We are using some of these billions developing defensive weapons for whatever threat new weapons bring.
There is not a single Russian submarine at sea today that doesn't have a US fast attack submarine, or destroyer with a firing solution already dialed in.
There is nothing that represents the immense projection of power across the globe than a US Carrier Battlegroup. We have 12 of those that can be deployed and supplied indefinitely. The Russians have 1, and it gets underway with a tugboat in case they have to tow it somewhere.
If we have learned anything from watching Russia stumbling around Ukraine, it is that they wouldn't last a week if the US, let alone all of NATO decided to start breaking Russia's shit.
Yes, just like if you put me in a ring with Mike Tyson, I might hit him once, but...
This is nothing but hype and Russian Propaganda. These missiles are expensive, terribly hard to guide to a target and the US and NATO are more than capable of defending against them.
