How do I explain this storm -Sandy-- to my mother-in-law.

Again I live in Western PA area near the Ohio.

We've have from time to time gotten some rain out of the remains of a hurricane BUT I'm trying to explain to my mother-in-law that this storm is going to have a impact on our side of PA more than she could imagine.

My wife is trying to make sure she's prepared especially for power outages but she thinks my wife is just being dramatic. She says we have the mountains that will keep it on the Eastern side of the state.

My MIL is worried about her other daughter living in Delaware BUT she doesn't see how it would hinder us.

Vermont didn't fair too well in Irene...the rain just rolled right down those mountains and caused terrible flooding in the little river valleys.

Hubby went to the store yesterday to humor me and was shocked there were only 6 bottles of water left and he had trouble finding the batteries I had on the list. He came home and helped me put the grill on the roofed over front porch and loaded all our rechargeable batteries in the charger. We have a well so when the wind starts up, we will fill both tubs with water for washing and flushing.
