White House press secretary Jen Psaki has tested positive for Covid-19, she announced on Tuesday.
News of her positive diagnosis comes hours before President Joe Biden is scheduled to depart for his trip to Brussels and Warsaw.
Psaki, 43, confirmed the news early Tuesday afternoon.

IMO, CDC caved to political pressure.

(31,109 posts)yes, we have made a huge mistake lifting protocols.
I guess at some point the pressure is intolerable even for decent people trying to do the right thing.
Were I in charge the mask wearing would be required by every living being in any building other than your own home.

(1,495 posts)I'm still wearing a good mask in public (of course).
I went to the doctor yesterday and there were unmasked people coughing all over. It's a big practice, with like 12 doctors, so the waiting room is very large and holds a lot of people. A lady, wearing a mask under her nose, was talking loudly on her phone, telling someone, "I'm so sick," and asking if they could come over to help her later.
I just hope my good mask was enough to protect me from all those unmasked germ spreaders.
In my county, new cases tripled overnight. I'm hoping this is just a reporting lag and we're not getting hit with another wave.

Per CBS radio, those who attended Psaki's last presser are considered to be close contacts, and testing is ongoing.
((just saw a rerun of the new presser: they are NOT considered to be close contacts, but testing is ongoing.))
