According to St. Jude, they're the first hospital in the U.S. to receive patients from Ukraine.

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Four Ukrainian children with cancer and their family members arrived on Monday at St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in Memphis.

According to St. Jude, they're the first hospital in the U.S. to receive patients from Ukraine.

St. Jude said the patients, who are nine months to nine years old, will receive their complex medical care at the hospital. In addition to cancer treatment, patients will get trauma-informed psychosocial therapy to address psychological, social, emotional and cultural needs. St. Jude educators are also developing a school curriculum for these patients and their siblings.

There are maybe a million ++ who have fled in a matter of weeks.
Makes your heart break for those who were just captured & taken hostage in RU.
Their care & fate has got to be dire.

We have to bring more.
Canada has just accepted many refugees as well.
Ugh. This is so sad.

We're still in a pandemic and dealing with insanity here stateside. Also, our immigration policy is broken and needs dramatic improvement. We have people who've fled situations in places like Haiti and in Central American countries that have been turned away.

There are charities working on bringing immigrants from Ukraine but it'll take lots of planning. Some will choose not to leave Europe, hoping to go back home as soon as possible.

Bringing very ill children over as quickly as they have is a big deal.
