During the Mideast peace talks, Carter stated his opinion that some matter (can't remember what) was "im-POH-dant," with the soft "r." Anwar Sadat heard it as impotent, because he pronounced that word with the accent on the second syllable, and agreed with Carter, even tho their understandings were exactly opposite.
