Honest-to-god my other siblings do much better dealing with my mother's politics. I have a hard time keeping my temper, and not starting an argument. This is the best I can do, now, and it made us laugh. God help us.

Being republican to her is an emotional thing. Can't talk her out of it. Doesn't matter that the R party has changed so much, she'll just flip it around and say the Democrats have gotten more radical too.

Doesn't matter that Republicans got caught throwing away voter registrations, because "neither party is lily white."

Nothing matters. I think it's a deep-seated reflex that goes back to Nixon and Goldwater. sigh....
