"I've been a First Lady of the State. I have seen what happens to people's lives if they don't get a proper education. And we know the answers to that. The charter schools have provided the answers. The teachers' unions are preventing those things from happening, from bringing real change to our educational system. We need to throw out the system."

education "law" that hamstrings the ability of public schools to "compete" with charter schools. Teachers unions have played black sheep long enough. Charter schools get to run around sucking off potential corporate sponsors. Public schools get to bite their nails over being sued left-right-and-sideways if they happen to use, or god-forbid, omit, the word "God". That's the teachers' union's fault?

I looked into teaching as a second career a few years ago. I quickly realized that very little of what teachers must learn to do involves instructional methodologies or curricular mastery. It is unbelievable the amount of administrative BS they have to undertake.

And having spent a bit of time in Massachusetts prior to your tenure there, Queen Ann, I can tell you that the public education system there was a heck of a lot better at that time than it is today under all the budget cuts, voucher programs and other Republican siege tactics. You *KNOW* the problems of a weak public education system? Your ilk *CAUSED* the problems of a weakened public education system!
