Supreme Court Quiet On Justice Clarence Thomas' Hospitalization

Source:Huff Post

The high court is declining to say whether the 73-year-old justice remains in the hospital.

WASHINGTON (AP) — The Supreme Court declined to say Wednesday whether 73-year-old Justice Clarence Thomas remains in the hospital, though he had been expected to be released by Tuesday evening.

The court said Sunday that the 73-year-old Thomas had been admitted to Sibley Memorial Hospital in Washington on Friday after experiencing “flu-like symptoms,” and he was diagnosed with an infection. His "symptoms are abating," and he was expected to be released Monday or Tuesday, the court said in a statement at the time. But on Wednesday morning, court spokeswoman Patricia McCabe said she had no update to provide.

The court heard arguments Wednesday morning and Chief Justice John Roberts said, as he has for the past two days, that while Thomas was not present he would participate in the case by reviewing the arguments’ transcript and briefs. Roberts said Thomas was “unable to be present today" without explanation.

imagine the chaos republicans would generate if Thomas had to retire or worse and his seat was up for nomination.

I want to believe they would do everything in their power to attempt to prevent President Biden from appointing a replacement.

They can try, but they will get no where.

Joe has a deep bench in which to draw from. I have to believe that he already has that base covered in the event of another retirement.

we can keep the majority in the Senate.

If we lose the Senate, either the seat remains open until 2025, or Biden will try to compromise with Republicans on a more moderate pick.

I don't know what his public stance on masks, mandates and vaccinations was. If he was anti-science, this might be rather embarrassing for him.

Get well soon, Justice Thomas. I don't agree with you at all, but you're still a human.
