Republicans Look to Flip Manchin on SCOTUS Vote

“Republicans know that they cannot unilaterally block Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson from confirmation if Democrats unite to support President Biden’s nominee in the 50-50 Senate,” the New York Times reports.

“But some of them are working to pick off votes for her in the president’s party, focusing in particular on Senator Joe Manchin III of West Virginia, the centrist Democrat who has broken ranks on major issues and whose state is solidly conservative.”

I’ve been worried about this from beginning. So far, he’s been good on judges, hopefully he keeps it up but I’m not holding my breath.

But some of these same assholes who are giving KBJ a hard to ridiculous to racist time during these confirmation hearings have voted for her court confirmation's in the PAST. This is a whole different story now, because it's clear they do not want an intelligent, strong, fair-minded black women sitting on their Supreme Court. They love self-hating, reich-winged goobers like Clarence Thomas who along with his racist wife would love to overturn what little constitutional rights this country has left just to suit their reich-winged agendas.

I don't trust a GQP US Taliban putin party member as far as I can throw the Empire State Building. I hope you're right though.

There isn't really any reason to vote against Brown Jackson. She's obviously qualified. Her appointment wouldn't change the balance of the court, and Republicans already have a 6-3 advantage. They would be spending a ton of political capital in order to block the first Black woman nominated to SCOTUS, and for what?

I think in the end she is going to get some GOP votes. I don't think people like Romney or Murkowski will want to be seen voting against Brown Jackson when really the only reason to oppose her is "we don't like Black people."
