If he can't duck the unsavory aspects of his behavior, our faultless guardians of democracy in the major media will normalize it or portray it as gutter politics or "gotcha" gamesmanship.

3. The rules they want to impose on everyone, never apply to them.

It is part of the Conservative world view. Laws need to be imposed onto the "lesser" people to control their behavior. The "betters" can manage their behavior and as such, the laws do not apply.

If you think about where Conservatives worldview began (in defense of Monarchy and aristocracy), you will see why they behave as they do. The behavior of monarchs and the aristocracy was always scandalous with court intrigue, affairs, murder, etc... They could never be held accountable by the rabble (except during the French Revolution, which scared the crap out of the aristocracy). Conservatives today have a similar mindset. They envision a hierarchical society where those at the top dictates the rules of behavior, but does not actually have to follow those rules because they are in charge.
