Witness: Whitmer kidnapping aimed at stopping Biden win

By ED WHITE
March 23, 2022

A man who pleaded guilty to planning a kidnapping of Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer told jurors Wednesday that he and his allies wanted to attack before the 2020 election to prevent Joe Biden from winning the presidency.

Ty Garbin didn’t say why they thought an abduction that fall would stop Biden from defeating then-President Donald Trump.

“We wanted to cause as much a disruption as possible to prevent Joe Biden from getting into office. It didn’t have to be,” he said of striking before the election. “It was just preferred.”

Garbin, 26, is a critical witness for prosecutors in the trial of four men charged with conspiracy: Adam Fox, Barry Croft Jr., Daniel Harris and Brandon Caserta.

They strive to "obtain a coherent narrative".

Eg, I obtained a weapon, went in the jewelry store, got loot, sold it to a fence for money.

I'm not seeing a coherent narrative here.

...even more important than the Jan 6 cases.

There's no real question of the federal government's ability to protect the US Capital, despite Jan 6. In fact, I have no doubt that any single site can be protected.

But there is a very real question of the ability to protect against stuff like this on a state or local level.

This is how civil society could quite easily unravel.

These would-be kidnappers need to go down. Hard.

Most have hare brained schemes like this groups, but there has to be a number of cells that are perfectly capable of puling it off.

Groups that have deeper causes than mask mandates and military grade equipment.
