Our President is fully vaxxed and boosted and in excellent shape. The risk to him is minimal and he'd have the best care in the world should he get sick.
He still masks, but more out of setting an example than as a precaution.

(21,346 posts)I know that Biden is vaxxed and boosted, but cases are rising in Europe now and several other people who are vaxxed and boosted are getting covid - Jen Psaki, Hillary Clinton, Barack Obama.

Biden is almost 80.

The incidence of breakthrough covid hospitalization and mortality even among the elderly is extremely low.
Biden will be fine.

(16,994 posts)They will get Covid and if they have an underlying condition they will be at significant risk for severe disease and/or death. That said, Im sure all the leaders are vaxed, boosted, and tested.

(21,346 posts)people over 65 who are vaccinated and have had boosters. In my county, they are the highest number of people being hospitalized or dying if they get a breakthrough infection. They are also more likely than younger people to have a breakthrough infection.

(16,994 posts)but the odds of severe illness and/or death is very low.
Walensky replies, You know really important study if I may just summarize it. A study of 1.2 million people who were vaccinated between December and October and demonstrated that severe disease occurred in about 0.015% of the people who received their primary series and death in 0.003% of those people. The overwhelming number of deaths, over 75%, occurred in people who had at least four comorbidities. So really these are people who were unwell to begin with. And yes, really encouraging news in the context of Omicron. https://mobile.reuters.com/article/amp/idUSL1N2TS0S2

(21,346 posts)the general population. I am referring specifically to people over 65. Immune systems do not function as well in older people as in younger ones, even with vaccines.
