As it was intended to. -- OP's comment
The rate of rejected mail ballots soared in the March primary elections in Texas and those rejections disproportionately affected Democrats, especially Black voters in the state's biggest county.
Nearly 23,000 ballots, or about 13% of all returned mail ballots, were thrown out across 187 Texas counties in the March primaries, according to an analysis by the Associated Press. In past election years, the rejection rate was around 1% to 2%, according to the Texas Tribune.
The rejection rate hit more liberal areas of the state with more than 15% of mail ballots thrown out in Democratic-leaning counties, compared to 9.1% in Republican-leaning counties. In Tarrant County, election officials rejected 813 ballots in the Democratic primary under the new voter ID rules, but just three ballots in the Republican primary, according to the Fort Worth Star-Telegram. ............(more)

(90,335 posts)... dismissive strawman, doom and gloom snark and non answers related to voting in person or [such people are stupid] in return.
But now we're seeing their devastating effect.
This will be repeated in all major locations the GZP has taken over.
We need to raise our reps ire on this situation to Ukraine being attacked by Russia levels IMHO

(90,335 posts)... cured and in this case the people who needed the curing only had days because of the GZP shortened the timeline.
That's ... NOT ... enough time to cure a ballot and then if you can't vote in person ... IF you even know to do that.
The USPS has been screwed up for more than a year and the inability to cure via notification is a product of that.
I wish I could send more of a flare but I'm only one person.
Dems in the US are like Zel was before Putrids war; not believing the GZP would turn America into a Belarusian level dictatorship... they will and via VAL can do it QUICKLY.

(68,556 posts)figure out ways around it...Georgia did a good job in 20...that is it. No one is going to be able to pass a national bill that will stop it. We got lucky in Ohio, Wisconsin, North Carolina, and Michigan though. And the constant drumbeat of 'woe is me' we are doomed I tell you' depresses the vote. Here in Ohio, my idea in my area is to keep Cleveland voting strong and get red county Democrats to vote...for the Senate and other statewide elections if we can peel off some votes...lower the margins, we might have a shot. After Biden won Georgia where my sister lives, I notice that without the votes out of red Paulding County and other areas, Biden would not have won...we lowered the margins...we can do that in other states.

(90,335 posts)... from decades ago this is straight up laws to KEEP people from voting no just slowing or making the process harder with long lines.
For instance, if you're a woman before 1920 you couldn't vote, it was law ... there's no GOTv around that.
In this case the GZP in TX timed the curing of ballots around the time notices were being sent out in large areas, there's no law around that.
Actually there is but the DOJ has to come down stupid hard on those who do this shit to shed light on intentions at least ... they wont.
There needs to be light shed on this and not dem leaders thinking GOTv or organizing around VAL is even possible or probable ... and that's the minimum.
That's NOT giving up its sounding the alarm so at least GZP tactics can't be done in the dark at least.

(4,008 posts)Thats part of their job every local DEC/ club needs to contact at the precinct level. Because this law isnt going away anytime soon.
The DNC needs to guide every state with new changes. I know our local chapter will be contacting our voters please volunteer locally to help.

(4,298 posts)Ask everyone who had a ballot or request returned to get their correction made and confirmed through churches and other grassroot social services. It can be done.
I also want the Dems to do some heavy checking in red areas hit hard by natural disasters. How does the destruction affect voting? Are addresses being rechecked? Are voter IDs for those affected being checked? If people had to relocate because of natural disasters, how is that being handled? Is there a difference in how those IDs and addresses are being handled in black vs mostly white areas?

(6,265 posts)fear of the 'others' is their prime motivator. Hateful, vicious racist people just waiting to create chaos and violence. 21st-century segregation and a fantasized RW return to the economic-voting slavery of all, not in the racist white camp. We gave S. Africa in the old days their ideas for apartheid. Different classifications for all non-white people(s) with the original African at the bottom of their racist totem pole.
Now in Amerikkka, we have a resurgence of that mentality, 21st century Amerikkkan apartheid with the ex-slave at the bottom of the totem pole...again. And with Cruz type people out there the people lining up to be racist, who are non-white in Amerikkkan apartheid classification, although white-ish in skin colour is becoming more and more evident every day.
This country is going to hell.
