that Ghouliani was the downtown US Justice attorney and then NYC mayor. He is now a somewhat demented Trumpian and one wonders just what connections he still might have in the myriad departments of NY, city or state, that could affect what's going on with the Trumpco investigation.
Remember also that the RE business is worth billions to NYC and has some huge players in it-- most of whom have been playing Trumpian tricks with mortgages and taxes for far longer than he has. They would likely prefer that less attention be paid to the business.

How involved he was is a question. Mobsters may not have been geniuses, but they knew he was a big mouthed asshole.
Roy Cohn was one of his earliest advisors, and taught him a lot of the dirty tricks he used. Roy Cohn also drove Lionel Trains close to bankruptcy, foretelling the Orange Blob's business success.
BTW, I've always enjoyed thinking that Giuliani's mob prosecutions were to get rid of the old-fashioned Italians so the Russians could take over.

(4,465 posts)There are two systems: One for the rich and powerful that seldom prosecutes and when it does, punishments are trivial. The other is for the rest of us, which is vindictive, unmerciful, cruel and arbitrary. If you are non-White then you get the worst of the system at every turn.

I do not believe there is not one shred of evidence for the many crimes he committed. If that is the case, he is a genius, or there is something very wrong with our laws.

(43,049 posts)prosecuted a President before and we really don't know how to do it. We have the remedy of impeachment, but that's about it, and it ends up being sidelined by political bullshit, not law.
There should be a fairly obvious way to prosecute a former president, but it doesn't seem to exist. Truth is, we haven't really need one until now.

Same thing with Putin. We are afraid to do too much to stop him. Afraid what new hell he will unleash.
So this is what the world has come to.
Bullies/criminals/evil wins the day by scaring everyone into compliance.
