Now-a-days, a hospitalization of a week is significant.
We have not heard anything about his current status.
Hmmm....?

(11,631 posts)He's been dead since at least 1991. Very well preserved somehow like a big mac.

(47,418 posts)Every time I see a photo of him, I think of Weekend at Bernie's. He's worn that same grim facial expression for years and he rarely speaks. I figured either he is asleep with his eyes open or he's been dead for years.

(4,845 posts)The rich, educated, and powerful GoP are all vaccinated and take the monoclonal cocktail when they COVID.
Seeing as he is a supreme court justice, I am sure he has the best healthcare just like Trump did. So if he got COVID and still in the hospital so many days later, I think he is in serious trouble. Not grave dancing or wishing him ill. Just stating the obvious.
However, I don't think we ever confirmed he got COVID, the news report I saw was for "infections".

(4,845 posts)It's not like he will get backslash or a boss yelling at him if he is sleeping on the job literally. And his votes are mostly partisan anyways. It's not from the merit of the cases. I think he would see a lot of pressure to wait another 2 years before considering retirement even if he is sick enough.

(102,234 posts)Yeah, it is TMZ, but they did talk to him (Justice Breyer):

So, take it for what it is worth...

(102,234 posts)The NPR piece is as of yesterday. The Breyer comment was outside a DC cafe last night and the story acknowledges that no official update from SCOTUS has been given. Given no "official" update is available, Breyer's impromptu comment is significant and the best we have.

(32,969 posts)snip-The Supreme Court would not say Wednesday whether Justice Clarence Thomas remained in the hospital, five days after he was admitted with flu-like symptoms.
Thomas entered Sibley Memorial Hospital in Washington, D.C. Friday and was diagnosed with an infection, a court statement said Sunday. He was placed on antibiotics, and with his symptoms waning by Sunday night was expected to be released by Tuesday."

(9,966 posts)Having a goodnight chat with spousal unit, who went to bed earlier than I did because he got up very early and was out all day. He related that someone (possibly on DU even) had suggested that Miss Ginni bit Clarence. I said, "Well, she is kind of a dog," and then started to giggle as an unholy thought occurred to me..."A Great VamPyrenees?" I said.
We both lost it. He told me to go say three Hail Marys. I was giggling too hard to do that. I should not be so mean.

(17,359 posts)Sources on Capitol Hill have told the Black Press that a growing number of Republicans fear that Justice Thomas is a lot worse off than what many have been led to believe.
That fear appears to have motivated Republican senators to attack the credentials of Judge Brown Jackson in hopes of either defeating her nomination or at least prolonging the confirmation process.
