... call them instead?
Was anyone else jumping up and down after reading Friedman's op-ed in the Times yesterday?
I'm thinking of a few other terms to describe for this wave of "little rape presents from God" Republicans:
1. Pro-Human output (along with bigger profits, of course)
2. No choice
3. Population Darwinist (as in, my big quiver of bad boys will outnumber yours and we'll obtain the advantage - I know, I know, they are just going to LOVE this name!)
4. Meat for The Grinder
5. Forced Birth
Anyone else got a zinger?

(34,655 posts)which is more logical. "Pro-life" is a lie when one is pro-death penalty and pro war.

(103 posts)... Vote Biblical Values add on this site? I guess they are locking-in on the words "Pro-Life"?

What we're trying to get across is that what they are doing is limiting the freedom and liberty of Americans. And, they are doing so based on a BELIEF. This is of crucial importance. They are taking away freedom and liberty which are real and tangible things. And they are doing it based upon something that is imaginary.
All of this falls apart if we start to put it in perspective with something like murder. There are laws which limit our freedom to kill. I have to add this because this is where everything hinges. They claim that abortion is murder.
I think the key is to try and find the answer to whether or not abortion really is murder. If we can make a definitive statement on that, the rest should fall into place. Once we pull the rug out from under that concept, then even the staunchest will see the light.

(720 posts)but I don't think it helps our side much. Concentrating on the control of a womans body is much more to the point.
Tell a man what he can or can not do with his body will cause the conversation to end very abruptly and with having someone eating the paper the law was printed on.

Abortion is THE number one issue that divides the Democrats from the Republicans. If you take that away from the Republicans, you win, hands down. This is what the "pro-choicers" cannot seem to see. They just keep beating the same drum, that pro-lifers are not listening to, and cannot hear. Your "choice" to us simply means that you want to take the life of another human being; a helpless, innocent human being. No amount of fighting, no amount of demonizing the opposition, is going to turn that around.
Pro-lifers see abortion, as it stands now, in terms of it's legality in this country, as a slippery slope. We see that, if you can end the life of the child in the womb prior to three months of gestation, then what is to stop you from yanking the child from the birth canal at nine months gestation and killing it?
There are only two solutions here: (a) prove that life does not begin at conception, or (b) usurp the moral high ground and make abortions either non-existant because they are no longer necessary, or a non-issue because they are extremely rare.
Until one of those two things happen, both sides lose.

(34,655 posts)Because abortions happen regardless.
Safe abortions or unsafe abortions.
Pro abortion rights, or anti- abortion rights.
pro abortion or anti abortion.
They are all so fraught with implications, as is "pro-life".
